Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good morning Community.

First apologies if this has already been answered in previous threads or in the incorrect place and am happy to be redirected.

Last night all of a sudden my laptop started to run slowly.  On investigation I identified that my CPU was running at a max 19% in Task Manager with a speed of 0.4 GHz as you can see below

I enclose the following (I know Hardware Monitor is not a HP support app, but it is useful to confirm). It shows all CPU cores impacted.

Here is the Windows Task Manager view:

I  checked online forums had have completed the following actions:

1. Updated the BIOS to the most recent via HP Support Assistant (F.10)

2. Updated the UEFI Firmware from HP Support Assistant. All other drivers upto date.

3. Checked recent windows updates - Last update installed on the 30th, issue started on the 3rd Oct, so eliminating a windows update at this time.

3. Disabled fast boot

4. Cleared and reset all power settings and toggled between HP Balanced and the default Windows Balanced (shutting down and restarting inbetween)

5. Enabled Best performance in the performance settings.

6. Ran BIOS and HP support assistant diagnostics - all green

For info - the power settings:

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Thank you all

Ok

After everything, I fixed it by removing the power adapter....... need to think Occam's Razor more often.

Laptop happy even under power now.

Weird issue, but happy it is sorted
