Hi @Gemar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about  the keyboard issue, don’t worry let me help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact HP laptop model you’re using
  • Whether this issue started recently or has been happening for a while.

Here are a few steps you can try in the meantime:

  1. Check Keyboard Shortcuts or Hotkeys
    • Some HP laptops have special function key combinations. It’s possible the Caps Lock key has been remapped.
  2. Update/Reinstall Keyboard Drivers
    • Go to Device Manager → Keyboards → right-click your keyboard driver → select Update driver.
    • If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling and restarting your laptop so Windows reinstalls it automatically.
  3. Test with External Keyboard
    • If you have access to a USB keyboard, connect it and check if the issue persists. This helps confirm if the problem is hardware-related.
  4. Check Accessibility Settings
    • Open Settings → Ease of Access → Keyboard. Make sure Sticky Keys or other accessibility features aren’t interfering.
  5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then select F2 for diagnostics. Run a keyboard test to see if the hardware is functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
