Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

As I have HP notebook 15 at517tx, what I want to know is I want to upgrade ram which my lap has 4GB DDR4 of 2400MHz my motherboard only support 2133MHz, can I upgrade my lap ram with another ram of 4GB DDR4 2666MHz will it work fine. I also hear that ram will work at the speed of supported by motherboard as my lap has Intel I3-6006U Sky lake. Will it work fine?

Hi:

 

If DDR4-2666 memory is all you can find, or is cheaper than DDR4-2400 memory, the 2666 MHz memory chip should work just fine.

 

It will automatically bridge to 2133 MHz, because that is the fastest speed the processor your notebook has can run the memory at.

DDR4-2666 MHz memory is all CL19.

 

DDR4-2400 memory is all CL17

 

DDR4-2133 memory is all CL15

 

It will automatically bridge to CL15--(CAS Latency) speed of a 2133 MHz memory module.
