Pavillion dv6-2155dx

Hello!

I have a Pavillion dv6-2155dx. Yes, that's old, but it serves it's purpose.

The adapter, or battery, are having issues. The scan says battery is OK, but not plugged in - but it is! Battery takes a while to charge,  ut holds it for 6ish hours.

Do I need a new adapter? If so, which one?

Or new battery? Something else?

Do you have HP Support Assistant? Is the battery original? OMG if it is...very long life. You can test the adapter by removing the battery and run just on adapter. If it runs fine that way the adapter is OK. Post back with these answers to our questions and it will allow us to answer yours.

Thank you for insight, Huffer!

LOL - I learned from my first HP laptop to not have it continuously connected 😬

I do have HP Assistant, which is what told me the batter was OK.

I tried running it without the battery and connected only to the adapter - no go, lol!  Does that imply the adapter needs to be replaced? What should be taken into consideration when looking for a new adapter?

Yes that says the adapter needs to be replaced and what you have to do is get the right part number and buy one of those.

In addition to the just OK there is a page of advanced results for the battery test which says how old it is how many cyckes it has sustained, how much capacity is left in each cell...useful stuff. The OK is like the idiot light on your car dashboard; better than nothing but pretty simplistic.
