Typing Symbols on the Czech-Slovak Keyboard
For the Czech-Slovak keyboard layout, you can type the following symbols using these fn key combinations:
- Vertical Bar (|): fn + L
- Backslash (): shift + fn + L
- Ampersand (&): fn + L
- Asterisk (*): shift + fn + L
What is the difference between the instructions for 1 & 2 and 3 & 4?

Hi @Danko123456,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
The difference between instructions 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 lies in which symbols are being typed and the specific key combinations required to input them on the Czech-Slovak keyboard layout:
Instruction 1: Vertical Bar (|)
- Combination: fn + L
- Typing the vertical bar (|) is a simple operation where only the fn key and the L key are required.
Instruction 2: Backslash (\)
- Combination: shift + fn + L
- Typing the backslash (\) adds the shift key to the combination of fn + L, which modifies the symbol to a backslash.
Instruction 3: Ampersand (&)
- Combination: fn + L
- Similar to Instruction 1, the ampersand (&) is typed using the same fn + L combination but may depend on contextual settings like active input language or the shift state.
Instruction 4: Asterisk (*)
- Combination: shift + fn + L
- Like Instruction 2, this requires the shift key in addition to fn + L to type the asterisk (*).
Key Observations:
- Instructions 1 & 3 (| and &): Both use fn + L, but the output depends on the symbol placement on the key based on the input language or keyboard mode.
- *Instructions 2 & 4 (\ and 😞 Both use shift + fn + L to access alternative symbols. Adding the shift key modifies the output to the secondary or tertiary symbol on the same key.
The key combinations depend on the specific key mappings for the Czech-Slovak keyboard, which often combines multiple symbols on a single key.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
