i bought a omen laptop. it advertises memory speeds of 2666. mem speed hp2.png

That is very normal, like using a racing car on a dirt road. Racing cars need racing tracks to get highest speed.

more details please. i paid alsost $400 for a 32gb  (16gb x2) memory. i understand your analogy. you say this is common. you mean hp's business prctice of fudging  performance numbers or other limitations inside my laptop are preventing  peak performance ?
