ZBook 15 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I would like to add a second SSD to my ZBook 15 G5.  There does seem to be an empty second SSD slot, but I'm not sure it is allowed to be used.  I tried to loosen the reatining screw, but it seems unnaturally tight.    Can someone point me at the service manual for the G5?

Any help is appreciated!

Meg

Here is the Manual:

The two SSD slots are right next to each other and both can be used:

Slots = red square mounting screws = green circleSlots = red square mounting screws = green circle

You can use either a SATA M.2 or a PCIe/NVME such as the Samsung 970 Evo.

The second slot retaining screw feels like it has been loctited, is that possible?  I fear if I try any harder to loosen it I may mess the head up beyond use.  I am using the right sized screwdriver Philips P00 (Wiha).  Any thoughts?

It would not have been locked down with any kind of glue or anything like that. All I can maybe suggest is to get a screwdriver longer with a larger handle but the same sized point so you get more torque. I assure you it will come out without damage if enough torque is applied.
