Hi,
I wanted to add a secondary SSD to my laptop. I've already upgraded laptops in the past, and already have a SSD laying around that I'd like to add to my laptop (the SSD is a Silicon Power 512GB, here's the amazon link: https://www.amazon.it/Silicon-Power-Performance-Pollici-interno/dp/B07KR1GFY5/ref=sr_1_5?crid=16Y42Y... ).
Upon opening my laptop I first noticed a black rubber brick where my SSD/HDD should be (highlighted in yellow in the attached pic, was able to remove it if needed), I assume it's to prevent the laptop from deforming when there's nothing there? anyway, I salvaged a ribbon cable from an old laptop and tried connecting the SSD, there were a couple problems:
- any time the ribbon cable was connected (I connected it to the MOBO, near the port with HDD written near it because I assumed it is the correct one. circled in red in the attached pic), the laptop would refuse to boot. The power LED would turn on for a split second but wouldn't stay on. This happened both with the ribbon cable connected to the SSD or just left there dangling. My guess is it's because it comes from an acer laptop it might be incompatible? If someone has a solution or a compatible ribbon cable, an amazon link would be appreciated, thanks.
- the SSD itself seems to struggle fitting in the space where it's supposed to be placed, I've also noticed a complete lack of mounting screwholes? should I just double tape it to the chassy?
thank you, added a pic of the place I tried putting the SSD into, if you need more information/pictures I'm happy to provide them!

Installing a secondary 2.5" format SSD is not a viable option.
You can replace the legacy HDD with a 1 or 2 TB SATA 2.5" SATA SSD.
You could also upgrade the M.2 Boot SSD to a 1 or 2TB PCIe Gen 3/4 NVMe M.2 SSD.
See the image below and then watch the video. Disconnect the ribbon connector and then remove the screws holding the HDD caddy. Remove the legacy SATA HDD. Install the 2.5" format SSD in its place. Double sided tape will work if you are unable to use the original caddy.

I'm sorry I couldn't really understand what you meant, here's some extra pictures to help:
this is the layout, note I've already upgraded the ram, and had to switch the battery out.
this is a picture of the legacy hard disk space with my SSD laid on top, it doesn't seem to fit nor seem to have a mounting braket?
