HP Notebook - 17-y010ur (ENERGY STAR)

Good time of day. I have an hp 17-010ur laptop. I want to add an SSD.
1) Can I leave the HDD alone and add an SSD to it, for example, instead of a disk drive. What is needed for this? What is the wire and what is the transition part (can I take a photo?)?
2) Which SSDs can I put in my laptop? Will any SSD be supported? Are you interested in more than 1 TB and which company would you recommend?

I attach the photo for clarity.

Thank you!

You're very welcome.

You will not need anything additional to install a 2.5" SSD.

Just use the existing mounting hardware from the 2.5" mechanical hard drive.

You are limited in storage capacity to a SSD that is 9.5 mm in thickness or less.

So, if you can find a 4 TB 2.5" SSD with that thickness or less, it should work.

You must install Windows with the GPT partition table for any drive greater than 2 TB to work as a boot drive.

Hi:

I looked at both screenshots you posted and I do not see a slot to add a M.2 SATA SSD.

The slot would look exactly like the one the Wi-Fi card is plugged into, but the distance would be 80 mm to where the hold down screw goes instead of 30 mm like it is with the wifi card.

Your only option for a SSD would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

@Vityu_sha

No, it does NOT support dual storage and from the image no M.2 board for you to connect. You can upgrade its current 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA ro 1TB or 2TB 2.5" SSD using compatible SSD such as

Thanks for the reply, Paul.

Then you will need to reinstall Windows.
I have Win 11 now, will it be possible to put it on the SSD as well?

@Banhien, Thank you, do I just have to buy this SSD and replace it? Are there additional adapter adapters or will you need to buy something?
By the way, is 2 TB the maximum?

Thank you, I understand

The last question for today, besides RAM and SSD, what else can be upgraded? Has someone changed the processor on this laptop model?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

You can upgrade the Wi-Fi card if you want to this model which is dual band:

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

The card has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an AC router and an excellent signal.

The service manual has the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.

I found a photo of the WLAN Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005

Are there two antenna connectors?

I have one antenna connected now, looking at my photos. Should I make the same connection? (Should I connect the antenna to the right connector?) And then suddenly you need to buy an additional second antenna for 5 GHz Wi-Fi
