Hello, I am interested in upgrading RAM of my HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1021la 

 

I am aware that the device has 2 slots and currently only one is being occupied by the default factory memory stick (8GB, 3200 MHz).

 

I want to buy a new one and I just want to know if any 8GB SODIMM 1.2V will work if I just stick it in with the one that is already there.

Can I buy a 2666 MHz and will it work to have a total of 16 gb?

This would be a compatible 8 GB DDR4-3200 memory chip for your notebook...

 

Crucial 8GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

 

HP only has the service manual for the older 15-ec0xxx model series, but it should be of help to you for opening up the notebook to upgrade the memory.
