Greeting's.
I have a laptop, an HP Envy 17t-n000, CTO. It comes with an HDD of 1 TB, and I noted that there is a specific empty bay for SSD M.2, so I did some research to know what kind of SSD M.2 can be compatible with my main board. I found a pdf manual from HP's official web site entitled "HP ENVY Notebook Intel Models 17-n100 17-n199 3D camera Models 17-r100 17-r199 (worldwide) 3D camera Models m7-r100 m7-r199 (North America)" that contains 120 pages, which say what configuration I can do in my laptop, and that mention is on the 2nd page:
Dual storage configurations:
● 1-TB + 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD (TLC)
● 4-TB: 2-TB (5400-rpm) x 2
SSD configurations:
, (available for i7 + GTX PCA)
● 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD (TLC)
● 128 GB M2 SATA-3 (TLC)
● 128 GB M2 SATA-3 (TLC) value
My question is, Can I connect to my main board and be sure that will work well?
a) 1 drive SSD M2 PCIe Nvme (Key M) of 1 TB; & replace the original HDD of 1TB for 1 SSD SATA-3 2.5" of 1 TB.
b) 1 drive SSD M2 SATA-3 (Key M+B) of 1 TB; & replace the original HDD of 1TB for 1 SSD SATA-3 2.5" of 1 TB.
c) 1 drive SSD M2 PCIe NVMe (Key M) of 1 TB; & keep the original HDD of 1 TB.
d) 1 drive SSD M2 SATA-3 (Key M+B) of 1 TB; & keep the original HDD of 1 TB.
or Can I only do this:
e) 1 drive SSD M2 SATA (Key M+B) of 256 GB; & Keep the original HDD of 1TB.
f) Replace the original HDD of 1TB for 1 SSD SATA-3 2.5" of 1TB.
Please provide a detailed reply and explanation to clarify my mind. I wish to add a SSD M2 and later replace my original HDD with a SSD SATA 3 2,5" with the same size. I saw on Amazon these two SSD M2:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H21182F/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AWD7GDDT7Q2ZT&psc=1
and,
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GJDHMPB/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A23AD5LOJUVSEP&psc=1
But I don't know if some of these SSD's are compatible with my laptop.
I will appreciate it if someone can help me.

Hi:
You can only install a SATA M.2 SSD in the M.2 slot. NVme SSD's are not supported.
You can retain the existing 2.5" mechanical hard drive and use it for storage if you install a M.2 SATA SSD.
If you wanted to install a 2.5" SSD as well as a M>2 SATA SSD that would be fine as well.
The drive capacities listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, and usually not the maximum capacity supported.
For example, if you wanted to install a 500 GB M.2 SATA SSD and retain the 1 TB hard drive, that should be fine.
Suggested M.2 SATA SSD would be the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SSD in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget.
THe 1 TB 2.5" SSD can only be used for storage when a M.2 SSD is installed.

Hi Paul_Tikkamen.
First of wall, thank you for your reply.
Ok, now I know that I can only install a SATA-3 M.2 SSD in the M.2 slot, I can either replace a 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" SSD, or just keep the 1TB 2.5" HDD that I already have and If I want to combine a SSD M.2 SATA-3 and a SSD SATA-3 2.5" will work fine too. For my propose explained previously, and just to clarify.
1) If I want to install a SATA-3 M.2 SSD of 1 TB in my device, should not be a problem, is that correct?
2) Can I install any of these following SSD's drive (whatever if is 512 GB or 1 TB):
- Timetec_512GB_SSD_3D_NAND_TLC_SATAIII_M.2_2280= Timetec 512GB SSD 3D NAND TLC SATA-3 M.2 2280
- TEAMGROUP_512GB_SSD_3D_NAND_TLC_SATAIII_M.2_2280=TeamGroup 512GB SSD 3D NAND TLC SATA-3 M.2 2280
- WD_Blue_500GB_SA510_SATAIII_M.2_2280=WD Blue 500GB SA510 SATA-3 M.2 2280
As you suggested I putted in the list the WD blue one (point c).
Regards.

You're very welcome.
Yes, that is correct. I don't see any reason why a 1 TB SATA SSD wouldn't work in your notebook along with the 1 TB 2.5" drive.
Compare the specs of the 3 drives you posted.
The WD Blue has the fastest read/write speeds of the three, but the other two drives cost less.
