HP ENVY - 15-as133cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I read around already several threads confirming that HP ENVY - 15-as133cl can indeed support a NVMe. My question is, because this model is so thin, can it support a NVMe heatsink that is 3mm in height?

I may not need it as I bought a Mushkin Enhanced Helix-L M.2 2280 250GB PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D TLC that runs only 1.36A, or 4.5W, which is considerably lower than most at 2.7-2.8A. However, I just like to know my options just in case it does get too hot.

Thanks!

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

If the SSD runs only on 1.36 A you do not have to worry about overheating or need for Heatsink

But adding an extra Heatsink might be an issue due to space constraint

Thank you

Thank you so much for the confirmation. I read more reviews, this SSD runs only max a 1.36A, but averages at 0.65A so it runs pretty cool.

For anyone else running into this thread looking for NVMe, I recommend DRAMless HMB versions for laptops. They run on 4.5-5W as compare to more standard powerful ones at 9-10W, but you sacrifice some performance. They're still way faster than a M.2 SATA.
