Help: I am trying to add an NVMe SSD to the allotted spot in my hp 14-fq0032od.  It's not showing up in my disc management. Or in my Bios. I updated all the drivers that I could find.

Thanks for any input

Its specs

       https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07645153

It has  64 GB eMMC of storage. From Crucial, you can use M.2 SSD (both NVMe or SATA) to your machine

But Manual says it does NOT support Dual storage.

So would cloning the 64 GB eMMC to the M.2 SSD and then remove the eMMC work?  When I plug the new M.2 into the USB with an adapter, I can see it in Disc Management, but it won't let me initialize it. When I installed in the allotted spot it doesn't show up.

The notebooks with the 64 GB eMMC drives only support M.2 SATA SSD's not NVMe.

There's nothing you can do to get the M.2 NVMe SSD to work.

You need a drive like this:

There are many posts on this forum documenting the discrepancy not mentioned in the service manual.

Thanks Paul; I can confirm that SATA M.2 was the solution. I now have it installed and initialized. My next question is, should I clone the other drive to the new one and then try to change BIOS to make the new one the boot drive? Or is there a better way to set it up?
Thanks again,

You're very welcome, Andrew.

Clone the drive to the M.2 SATA SSD and make sure you set the cloning software to clone from a smaller drive to a larger one.

I do not believe that there is a setting to boot from the SATA SSD.

The Windows boot manager decides what drive to boot from.

If the drive does not boot from the SSD, you will probably have to use the Diskpart command to clean the 64 GB drive so that there is no operating system on it and hopefully that will force the Windows boot manager to boot from the SSD.
