Hello,

I would like to upgrade my laptop to 8gb of ram. It's now running 4gb am1u16bc4p2-b19h / (HP 641369-001).

Can I just add another stick of 4gb DDR3 SO-DIMM 1600MHz RAM, or does it need to be the exact same part? Or do I need to buy a whole new set of DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM?

Thanks in advance,

Liamve.

The stick you have is DDR3-1600 SO-DIMM, the 1.5 volt kind not the low voltage stuff and it is dual rank i.e. low density and CL=11 latency. You do not need to exactly match the maker and part number of the memory but it should be the same kind.

So I assume you have an amazon account and you can add this module or one like it to yours to have 8 gigs:

Thanks for your quick reply! So any SO-DIMM RAM stick that's 4GB, DDR3, PC3-12800, 1.5 Volt and CL11 would work?

Don't forget low density meaning 8 black blocks on the side of the module in 2 rows (ranks) not 4 blocks in one rank.

Otherwise, yes.

And please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't know that. Thanks for your support.
