Hello,
My zbook 15 G3 is having 32GB memory (in 2 slots) and using Xenon CPU. I want to add 32BG more so that it wil become 64GB and let the system run in dual channel completely. The ECC RAM is not cheap and uneasy to find . Here are some of my worries:
1.I was also told it is better to get HP's original instead of finding other parties, which means I can't use Kingston RAM?
2. And , the original spec of the RAM is DDR4-2133 EEC SODIMM . Is it possible if I replace all 4 RAMs with 2400 MHz ? Will the chipset / motherboard support 2400 MHz ?
Thank you.

I have a Zbook G3 but its the i7 version and takes regular non-ECC DDR4-2133 SO-DIMM. It has 4 slots and like yours, can take up to 64 gigs. I upgraded mine to 16 gigs using aftermarket memory with the original HP memory and it works fine. I have had no experience with ECC DDR4 laptop memory but the non-ECC type I have and it does not appear to be really finicky. Here is the HP part number for the 16 gig DDR4-2133 ECC SO-DIMMs:
For use in models with Xeon Core processors ● 16-GB 835886-001
This memory would work fine for you:
You can mix it with the 2 original modules.
Service manual:
You can install DDR4-2400 and it will work but the system can only run it at 2133 speed. You might actually find 2400 to be a bit more available and maybe even a little cheaper and, if so, you can use that. I shudder to think what the HP Parts Store would charge for this but let's look:
$333 PER MODULE
For $100 more on amazon.com you could get 4 modules.
