Hello. I'm thinking of adding a second hard drive ((SSD or HDD) together in M.2 ssd) to the laptop. I've heard that some laptops don't have sata connectors. Instead of them, there is a connector for a flex cable with Aliexpress on the motherboard. What is the option in this laptop, and will the warranty disappear when opening the back cover?

I see you are looking to upgrade SSD/HDD on this HP Laptop PC.

The hardware warranty is still valid even after the upgrade when opening the back cover. Please visit this link for the Manual with more details on the upgrade.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

My HP Pavilion dv7 does not use a different type of connection for the second hard disk. It uses an identical SATA port. It is adjacent to the primary jack. They are physically identical except one is labeled "1" and the other is labeled "2". However, you cannot use the HDD Cable Compatible For HP Pavilion L18218-001 because it is not long enough i.e. it is too short. I am currently looking for the exact same thing you are: an internal SATA cable that can connect my SSD from the computer port built-in.

I found the laptop upgrade instructions on the internet. The video shows that there are stiffeners on the back cover above the hard disk slot. If you cut them down and buy a flex cable, you can install a second SSD/hard drive

Thank you all for the answers
