i just got my laptop updated with intel rapid storage software , and it says there is a free Sata slot/connector , and when i was adding a exstra block of ram , i noticed there was a space side the battery , like 2.5 inch og 1.8 inch drive space ? , but not any sata connector ...does they look different in laptop and wich drive to get? , im more stationary guy 🙂

Hi,

 

If you look on page 37 of service manual you can see how the hard drive should fit in the system. You need to make sure that there is the connection on the motherboard and you are going to need to purchase hard drive cabe and bracket

 

Hard drive bracket                              part number 933608-001

Hard drive cable                                   part number 927917-001

 

Either by searching with part number online (probably cheaper) or from HP parts store:
