Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

My HP 14t-dq500 came with a fairly small NVME SSD, which I upgraded to 1TB. I would, however, like about 2TB. It seems that this model doesn't currently support a 2TB NVME SSD, so I was thinking about adding a SATA SSD. Is it possible? There seems to be a place in the enclosure, but I am not sure if the MB has a pin to connect it to. So....

A) is it possible to connect a SATA SSD.

B) If not, is there a compatible 2TB NVME SSD?

Cheers

Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual shows no support for 2.5" drives.

My recommendation for a 2 TB NVMe SSD for your notebook would be the Western Digital Blue SN570:

I replaced the NVMe SSD with a 1TB, but when I opened it up I saw this. Is this a sata connector to the MB?

It could be but I wouldn't know for sure.

There is no 2.5" SATA cable listed in the service manual, so you would have to take a guess as to which one would be the right one if that is a SATA connector.

Then you have to know if the port is even enabled.

it could also be the connector for the 64 GB eMMC drive that was also an option in the model series which would not be compatible with SATA.

I would lean toward that being more the case.

Anyway to find out for sure? I can't find a map of the MB.

No way that I know of.

HP does not supply any motherboard schematics.

Ok, then my best bet is to find a SATA SSD and see. That is a connector that 'could' be used for a SATA drive, right? Is this the type of cable from that connector? s-l1600 (1).jpg

And this is in the pdf manual you linked. Doesn't this suggest SATA compatibility, or am I missing somethingCapture.JPG

Ingnore that last post

If the number of pins in the SATA cable match the number of contacts on the motherboard connector, and the port is SATA and activated, it should work.
