Hi!

I just replaced my laptop's battery, and while doing so, I realized there is no hard drive where it should be!

So I realized that the hard drive is installed on the motherboard directly. Its a SanDisk SD8SN8U-512G-1006

With having room for another hard drive, my question is:

Can I install an additional hard drive in the empty space?
if so, would it not interfere with anything?

And what parts should I use to keep it in place?

I assume the connection port is the one that I highlighted with green marker in the picture.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

It is possible to insert an 2.5" HDD or SSD or you could just upgrade the M2 drive in the notebook to a higher capacity one (no limit to capacity)

For the 2.5" drive you will need

cable

Ex;

the rubber sleeve seems more difficult to find  part number 924283-001

you can try an online search in your country. You could also use some foamy double sided stron tape to keep the drive in place.

Yes, that is where the cable attaches to.

Hope it helps,

David

Hi. Thank you for your reply.

This helps very much.

Just to clear it out for myself. How do I upgrade the M2 drive? Is it done in the BIOS?

I still want the existing SSD to remain as main drive. I want the new SSD to be added on top as a second drive.

Will the laptop not detect it automatically?

Thank you
