I want to upgrade my Zbook which has a 8gb RAM unit and i bought a Crucial 8Gb SO-DIMM DDR3L 1600mhz (CT102464BF160B)
In the HP manual it says:
"Support for DDR3L 1600-MHz PC3-12800 dual channel memory"
But i read somewhere that you should have the same GB but also that it is preferred to have the same brand.
Can it cause a problem/ will it work correctly if i add the 2nd 8 GB Ram of a different brand to my system?
*edit
both have a CAS latency of CL11
and does anybody have experience with https://www.memtest.org/

I use memtest all the time yes and it is excellent. The important thing on matching modules to assure dual channel operation is the speed, the latency (both of which are the same in your case it appears) and the density. Single or dual rank. If you install 2 modules with the same speed density and latency you will have dual channel even if they modules were not made by the same company.

Hi Huffer,
Thank a lot for your solution, i will run memtest as well.
if i understand correctly te density means that the for this case 8GB both have 8 chips on the card (so 1Gb each) and not something like 4 chips of 2GB.
Kind regards,
Sven
