Hi, was thinking of adding NVIDIA graphics card on my HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j130us Notebook. Is it possible to do this? Or do I have to just stick with the Intel HD Graphics?

Hi,
It is not possible to upgrade or install a graphics card as they come soldered to motherboard together with graphics subsystem. You would need to replace the motherboard which would probably cost more than buying new computer with your desired specifications.
Hope it helps,
David

oh well, guess i'm stuck with Intel HD Graphics, thanks for your reply it's more than helpful. Maybe you can give a suggestion on any software (if any) that can reduce lagging when doing something eg. playing a game?

Hi,
You have a nice and powerfull computer for everyday use and working. For playing games the most important device is the graphics card and Intel HD graphics 4600 is not adequate for modern games. There is some game booster software out there but it really does not have any effect. Basically it will stop the programs running in background. Something you can do yourself and probably already do.(such as turning off Skype or not running Torrents etc...) and still it probably will not have great effect.
My advice is that if you like gaming, to invest in a small desktop computer and have the graphics card as powerfull as possible.
Hope it helps,
David
