That part number hma81gs6afr8n-uh is DDR4-2400T and it is not clear to me what the T means

about $12 https://www.ebay.com/itm/374952907873

The HP part number shown in the laptop parts list is 862398-855 and that can be 2400 or 2400T

Do not mix 2400 and 2400T memory.  I suspect you have 2400T so open system up and verify the memory and check to see if you have an extra socket for the memory.

The parts list for your laptop shows a single 8gb memory stick.  Your motherboard supports two slots but you should inspect it to be sure..

862398-855
8GB, 2400MHz, PC4-17000, 1.2v DDR4 SODIMM

You should be able to find 862398-855 memory here

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=hp++862398-855&_sacat=0&L...

Please verify you have only a single 8gb and not a pair of 4gb by using

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, capacity, speed, MemoryType, formfactor, partnumber, manufacturer

from a command prompt.   For example, I have all 6 slots used up and no space for more

And then I looked for the motherboard and this is what it showed:

I think it's not the same motherboard you said?
