Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have 2 DDR3 1x4gb 1333MHz chips. I was told at best buy that they would work. I put them in and when I boot up the screen goes black, I take the chips out and the the screen works again.... Am I using the wrong ram, or doing something else wrong?
