So when I opened my unit I found that there is a screw for the drive (Red Circle), just nothing to plug it into. You can see where it should go (Red Square) just not there.

That screw would not be for holding down the SSD. because it is not far enough out for a M.2 2280 drive, and it is also off-center from where the notch in the other end of the drive where the screw contacts.

 

There is also no standoff (post).  The M.2 hold down screw goes into a silver standoff which sticks up from motherboard.

 

That's too bad there is no M.2 slot to even experiment with installing a M.2 SATA SSD.
