HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew0000 (549V4AV)

I'm an Australian resident currently on an overseas vacation, during which the right hinge of my HP Envy Laptop broke. I was opening the laptop as per normal and heard a weird cracking kind of sound and noticed a piece of metal connected to the hinge pushing out of the outer shell of the laptop, seemingly jammed into place (see image 1). I then tried to close my laptop, which led to it being in an uneven position that didn't close properly and upon opening it again, this piece of metal completely popped out, still jammed in the same position and unable to tilt up or down. I've attached photos of this so you can see. This was bizarre, as I had been using it just fine the prior 2 days without it leaving my hotel room, with no knocks or anything of the manner occurring.

My factory warranty expires in 2 days, and HP doesn't appear to have a large presence in Japan. The laptop still somewhat folds enough such that I can transport it around in my backpack, so the most convenient scenario for me would be to deal with the repairs upon returning to Australia on March 3, although naturally this is outside of the timeframe of the warranty. I'm moving location to location in Japan, so dealing with repairs/replacements here would be quite the headache. I tried various HP Australia support services and they all told me to contact HP Japan support. However, my phone has issues where I cannot can any international numbers, which has made contacting the requested numbers impossible. I have however filled out and filed a repair request form (I received a confirmation email), similarly explaining the issue and attaching the same images, although this form was in Japanese and clearly assumed the person filling it in is a Japanese resident, so it was a little bit dodgy, but I hope at least this puts the repair request on HP's system. At the end of the day, if my warranty had only extended until March, I would just deal with this upon getting back, which leads to my main questions.

Would this be covered under my warranty in the first place? Would it be covered if I send it in for repairs upon returning back from my trip, given that the damage occurred within the warranty period and I have this within the HP system via this Japanese repair request form?

I would appreciate any other help or advice that anyone can offer.

Unfortunately, that specific type of damage is not covered under the factory warranty.
