- I have a couple of questions for the awesome techs on these discussions. I have been reading through some of the discussions and have read that you are able to upgrade the ram from 8gb ram to 16gb and that on some you could add ssd. That got me thinking could I upgrade my system board/motherboard to a better one such as the i7-7500U and if so does it have to be one with UMA graphics or could it be a discrete graphics. I was also wondering if there were any other potential upgrades that could be done.

You can replace the motherboard with one that has the discrete graphics adapter but you will also need to install the heatsink listed in chapter 3 of the service manual for the notebooks that have motherboards with the discrete graphics adapters.
HP 15 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 15g Laptop PCHP 15q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
I recommend you install a motherboard that has an Intel 8th gen core processor, so the notebook meets Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirements.
Notebooks with the discrete graphics adapters will require the higher wattage power adapter listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.
The parts list for your notebook indicates it has an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 combination WLAN adapter.
If that is correct, you should be able to upgrade to this Wi-Fi 6 card:
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part # L35282-005.
The manual indicates the notebook can support 2 x 8 GB of memory, but I believe that though not officially supported, the notebook should be able to run 2 x 16 GB of memory.
You can run this command to confirm that:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the Enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If you upgrade the motherboard to an Intel 8th gen core processor, you will need to purchase faster memory--at least DDR4-2400 CL17 or DDR4-3200 CL22 because the 8th gens run the memory at 2400 MHz.
Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports SATA M.2 SSD's only, not NVMe.
The same goes for the notebooks with the Intel 8th gen core processors.
NVMe SSD's are not supported in any 15-bs### notebook.
I believe that covers it.

You're very welcome,
Looking at the options this one would be the best if you want the discrete graphics:
Intel Core i7-8550U processor and 4 GB of discrete graphics memory HP part # L10346-601
The -601 means the motherboard has the W10 product key in the BIOS.
The thing I don't know is if the same heatsink is used for the 8th gens with the discrete graphics since none are listed.
For use in models with discrete graphics memory and 6th or 7th generation Intel Core processors HP part # 924976-001
I assume you use that part, but I don't know for sure.
The other thing I don't know is where you will find those parts or any other of the motherboards listed.
Possibly on eBay.
Make sure you get a system board with the -601 suffix, or you will have to shell out $100 for a new Windows license and product key.
-001 means the motherboard does not come with a Windows product key in the BIOS.

Again thank you for all the help, and sorry for all the questions but I have just one last question. What Ram would you recommend for 32GB I tried finding the parts number on the service manual but it didn't have it.

You're very welcome:
This would be a compatible 16 GB memory chip:
