Pavilion g6-2237us Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Last year, I was looking into upgrading my HP Pavilion g6-2237us Notebook. I asked the community and received help as to what component to buy. While I am aware that my computer can be upgraded to a maximum of 8GB ram, I am conflicted as to what brand to buy. I chatted with a representative for crucial who advised me to purchase the Crucial 4GB Single DDR3/DDR3L, 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SoDIMM 204-Pin Memory- CT51264BF16OBJ, I've stumbled upon an alternative at Amazon.

The alternative is an HP 691740-001 4GB, 1600MHz, PC3L-12800 DDR3L DIMM memory module. Since this one is manufactured by HP, would it be better to purchase it or do I stick with Crucial?

HP does not make memory so the part you ask about is likely OEM type memory with a Samsung or Hynix label. Crucial would be fine and the memory sold as being the HP part would be fine, too. Crucial is a memory module maker. They take the same little black blocks of memory and attach them to green boards and sell them under their name. Essentially it is the same stuff as Samsung or Hynix or Kingston, etc. So either way you are OK.
