Brand new laptop, had it two days.  The slot on the side of the computer for the microSD card is very small.  One would think you simply slide the memory card into the slot.  Wrong.  The opening in the side of the computer is in fact TWO slots.  One goes into the memory card reader, while the other goes into the dark void of the inner workings of the computer never to be seen again.  Well, unless you are experienced enough or brave enough to crack open the case of your brand new shiny computer and dig around for your lost items.  After finding instructions for how to remove the case (from this site) I was able to locate my memory card rattling around just behind the battery.  The case removal instructions were from someone else's question about getting out a memory card from an identical machine to mine.  It would seem quite a poor design to have a large enough gap between the hardware (card reader) and the case that the cards could vanish like a kid sticking quarters in a toaster.

How can you put a microSD card to a wrong slot is unbelievable. Port #2 a Thunderbolt port microSD cards won't physically fit to that slot.

Exactly my point!  You should not be able to place an SD card anywhere other than the correct place, yet this computer is not built that way.  The small opening (#1 in your photo) is built large enough that the card can ride over the top of the intended card reader and fall into the inside of the case.  Not the way a laptop should be built.
