Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello I have a Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and it stutters or even freezes for about 3 seconds when I do anything. My brother had it for 7 years and I told him I could fix and he gave it to me. I fixed about 50 registry errors, reformatted it, I'm performing a full system scan now through Norton but I'm feeling like it's a hardware issue and that is something I'd rather not deal with but if I have to I will I just dont know the process with hardware on laptops it's different than desktop builds. It freezes when I'm playing games or opening up files or downloading stuff.  It's not FPS drops its just freezing/stuttering. Any tips or help would be highly appreciated!!

Hi,

Try performing some hardware diagnostics on the device and see if there are any problems. Turn off the PC by holding the power button. Turn on PC and continuously keep pressing ESC until the startup menu appears. Next, press F2 to enter diagnostics and perform the fast system test.

Let me know,

David
