I bought an HP 15-ef2126wm recently. I was looking for a new thumb (USB) drive to use with it, and wasn't sure what USB specs it fits. The packages for the USB drives said 2.0 or 3.0; I wasn't sure which my laptop fits. Here is text from the product description on newegg, where I bought it:
Ports: 1 x SuperSpeed USB Type-C, 2 x SuperSpeed USB Type-A,
Which ports are 2. 0 and which are 3.0?

The two ports that support a standard USB flash drive are both USB 3.0, and are backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices.
The other port is USB-C. That is the small USB port.
