Note Book HP 15s-eq0067au
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear Experts,

My notebook is HP 15s-eq0067au with the specs of

AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, 4GB RAM DDR4 2400MHz, and storage PCI e NVMe 512GB SSD.

I would like to upgrade my RAM and storage.

Please explain and suggest.

1) For RAM, I'd like to know whether DDR4 2666MHz RAM is compatible or not for my unit (DDR4 2400 and 2666 have same         price and a retail seller claimed that both are compatible for my unit)

Which combination is most efficient and effective from the following?

Upgrading to preexisting 4GB + Additional 4GB  = Total 8 GB with same parallel specs

Upgrading to preexisting 4GB + Additional 8GB = Total 12 GB with nonparallel specs

2) For Storage, I heard there might be some issue for upgrading as there is no cable or designated slot inside and some DIY cable accessory may be required affecting the warranty.

Thanks.

Hi!

1) In general, any DDR4 ram that fits in the DDR4 slot in your laptop usually should work. The question is do you have 2 ram sockets or a single one? If you have a single slot for the ram any 8gig card will improve your performance over significantly but if you have 2 slots for your ram, I suggest you buy 2 4gig cards from the same brand because that will help at getting it to work even better.

2) 512 gig SSD is already pretty good for a laptop. Going for a 1 gig SSD is going to be a pretty expensive upgrade so unless you are planning to play games that take up a whole lot of space, I would suggest you just buy an external HDD that's 1 gig or something. That option is especially good if you are planning to store pictures or documents on it.
