Hi there,

I hope you're doing well. I’m reaching out as a concerned customer regarding an issue with my HP Spectre x360 laptop. I purchased the laptop in March 2020, and the warranty for repairs and spare parts ended in April 2024. Unfortunately, since June 2024, I’ve been experiencing problems with charging.

I initially thought the issue was with the charger, so I purchased a new one directly from HP. However, the problem persists, and I suspect that both charging ports might be loose, making it impossible to charge the laptop properly.

Is there any way I can get assistance to resolve this issue once and for all? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Greetings

Jerry

Hi @Omundo,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the charging issue with your HP Spectre x360. Since the warranty has expired, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check the Charging Ports:

  • Inspect the Ports: Look for any visible signs of damage or looseness in the charging ports. If you notice any debris, carefully clean it out with a soft brush or compressed air.
  • Test Different Angles: Try charging the laptop while gently adjusting the angle of the charger to see if you can find a position that works consistently.

2. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power Off: Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect: Unplug the charger and any connected peripherals.
  • Remove the Battery (if possible): If your model has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
  • Reassemble: Reinsert the battery, plug in the charger, and try turning the laptop on.

3. Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • BIOS Update: Visit the HP Support website to check if there are any BIOS updates available for your model. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve charging issues.
  • Driver Update: Ensure that all your drivers, especially the power management and chipset drivers, are up to date.

4. Test with Another Charger:

  • Although you already tried a new charger, if you have access to another charger with the same specifications, test it to rule out any compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
