Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have the hp 15-da0138nq notebook and I upgraded it with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM matching the frequency and latency of the existing RAM.

When I played a movie I saw that the audio and video were glitching for short intervals, the speakers were making a buzzing sound and the screen was freezing for like 1 second or so.

I knew the problem was not from the speakers so I tried uninstalling the components to see where that come from and I realised that it was from the OPTICAL DRIVE.

I can't understand why is this happening and I didn't find any threads releated to my problem. I mention that the optical drive is functioning normal.

Hi @BrokN,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sounds like your optical drive might be causing system lag due to resource conflicts, driver issues, or power fluctuations. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and fix the problem:

First, check for driver issues. Right-click the Start button, select Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click your optical drive, and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

Next, disable the optical drive to test if it’s the source of the problem. Open Device Manager, right-click your optical drive, and select Disable device. Play a movie and see if the glitching stops. If it does, the drive might be faulty or interfering with system resources.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
