Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)

Been having issue with my laptop ever since i've got it at first it didn't show any output devices. Now they show up if you look you can seen there is sound through setting but won't give any audio on the speakers and headphone jack comes in and out. If i use a blue tooth head set it works fine. I've updated drivers i worked with Microsoft who couldn't fix it and said to contact HP

Hi @jrrioux,

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you.  I reviewed the post. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Here are a few steps you can try to fix the audio issue.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
  • Right-click on your audio driver (usually Realtek or Intel) and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the instructions.

Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  • Go to the Playback tab, right-click your audio device, and select Properties.
  • In the Enhancements tab, check Disable all sound effects or uncheck any enhancements, then click Apply.

Check Power Settings:

  • Sometimes, power-saving features can cause audio issues.
  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Ensure that you're using the Balanced or High Performance plan.
  • Click on Change plan settings next to the selected plan, then click Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand Processor power management and make sure Minimum processor state is set to 100%.

Run the Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter to detect and resolve any issues.

Adjust the Sample Rate and Bit Depth:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  • Go to the Playback tab, select your audio device, and click Properties.
  • In the Advanced tab, change the Default Format to a different sample rate (e.g., 16-bit, 44100 Hz) and see if that resolves the crackling.

Check for Interference:

  • If you have Bluetooth or other wireless devices, try turning them off to see if they are causing interference with the audio.

Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  • If updating doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. In Device Manager, right-click the audio driver and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
