Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP 15 series notebook. I read that the when the battery charge comes down to 20%, the laptop powers off. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To understand more about how your battery works: Click here
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
Please perform the steps as described in detail from this HP document. These steps help in fixing battery related issues.
NOTE: For Step: Test the AC adapter using the UEFI Hardware Diagnostic tests, I suggest try running a test on the battery instead. Incase the battery test fails then you may contact our HP phone support team to check the available service options.
I sincerely hope this information helps. Feel free to keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

Thank u sir , for ur kind solution .
I followed ur suggestion , as removing battery then disconnecting plug ac adapter , then again recoonecting battery , plug in adapter . one thing i will say , i didnot understand meaning of this line " If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop. "
after go through the above step , nothing will be changed , samething was happend , laptop shutdown without warning .
besides this i also followed testing and calliberating of battery which is mentioned in hp document . i applied 2 steps i.e 1. through hp support assistant 2 . hp pc hardware dignostics UEFI . in fist process i got the +ve result ( find the attachment ), but in second step there was no opion for component test & power test . only 2 steps were available hard drive test and memory test .i here by attached the some snap shot of thishp support assistant test
hp battery power test

You're welcome and thanks for sharing the images.
You may update the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics menu and then you should get an option to perform a battery test. Please download and install it on your laptop via this link.
Once installed, please restart the laptop. Then you may try the steps 2 to run the battery test (usually found in power test). If the battery tests good then please perform the steps from this HP article to improve the battery's performance.
A battery's life depends on the number of power cycles it goes through. One full charge and then full discharge is a power cycle.
If you would like to buy a battery, then it is better to contact our HP phone support team or visit the HP PartSurfer website.
Hope this information helps. Good luck! 🙂

hlo Sir ,
according to your helpful suggestion . i updated HP UEFI HARDWARE dignostics right now by installing the link provided by you .
after installing , i restarted the laptop , then performed the battery test , power source test , ac adapter test ,i got the +ve result i.e primary battery is ok , component test passed ,then exit , after some time i shutdown my laptop , removing battery for checking product details , serial no. for searching in hp part store , then i inserted it in laptop and restarted . as usual again performed same 3 test , i got the result i.e your primary battery is weak .
i attached here the photos of component test after installing hp uefa
after installing
after removing battery and inserted again

This is still a problem in the implementation of UEFI by HP, it should provide the current level of battery wear through the ACPI interface. But instead it says that the battery is in perfect condition, which is not true. UEFI simply gives the operating system the wrong information about the current state of the battery, which makes the laptop turn off instantly when the energy is really running out.
I encountered the same problem and, apparently, it can only be solved by HP or, perhaps, someone who can modify UEFI-image.
