Hi @MEMO_77,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is not charging and the battery remains at 0%, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Basic Checks

Ensure Proper Connection:

  • Verify the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.
  • Try a different power outlet.

Inspect the Power Adapter:

  • Check if the power adapter light is on.
  • Try a different compatible power adapter if possible.

Inspect the Charging Port:

  • Ensure the charging port on the laptop is free from debris or damage.

Reset Hardware

  1. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  2. Press and hold the Power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  3. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning the laptop back on.

Check the Battery and Adapter in BIOS

  1. Turn off the laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
  2. Select F2 for System Diagnostics.
  3. Run the Battery Test and check the results.
    • If the battery fails, it may need replacement.
    • If the adapter is not detected, it could be faulty.

Update BIOS and Drivers

  1. Plug in your laptop to a power source (even if the battery doesn't charge).
  2. Boot into Windows and update:
    • BIOS from HP's support site.
    • Battery and AC adapter drivers in Device Manager:
      • Expand Batteries and uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
      • Restart your laptop; the driver will reinstall automatically.

Check for Physical Damage

If you notice:

  • A bloated battery (swollen appearance),
  • Physical damage to the power adapter or charging port,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
