All of the BIOS updates are only on the W8 driver section...see my previous screenshot.
I don't know how Linux works.
I only use Windows.
Here is a screenshot using the free 7-zip file utility that shows the contents of that BIOS update file...

BIOS revision F.2A is newer than what you have installed now.
Using W10 and edge you can click on the image and it zooms to a readable size.
Unfortunately, I cannot help you anymore than I have.

I went ahead and flashed the BIOS from Windows and it seemed to take after a lot of false starts. Eventually I was able to get into the BIOS and confirm the upgrade to the F.2A.
Sadly, it did not come with the switchable graphics option. So I guess that's that. I will add HP to my list of do not recommend.
Thanks for your help in any case.

You're very welcome.
I didn't even look up the specs on that model. I assumed you knew it came with switchable graphics.
The specs indicate that it does not.

I don't work for or represent HP, so I don't know why you would make any disparaging comments regarding HP to me.
What your opinion of HP is, is of absolutely no interest to me.
You can let HP know how you feel at the link below...
