Hey,

I got an alert from the HP Support Assistant that I can update my BIOS from Revision F.24 to F.25 .

I downloaded it using Windows Update through the Optional Updates section.

After I restarted my PC, I got a screen saying that the BIOS update failed because the file was corrupted (Or something like that).

I couldn't get a screenshot since that happened during the OS booting up.

My PC did boot up successfully but now I have a conflict in my PC -

My PC BIO is still on revision F.24 but thinks I don't need to update my BIOS,

but when I open the HP Support Assistant, it detects that I can update my BIOS and gives me the alert again.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Hey,

I understood the issue I had and fixed it.

Turns out the disk management tool wasn't reflecting properly about my EFI partition storage data.

While it did have a capacity of 100MB, only 15MB were free to use, which weren't enough for the BIOS file.

I deleted the old BIOS data from the EFI partition (As I wouldn't need it since I have the current and new version saved there anyway) and installed the BIOS update successfully.

Thanks anyway!

I ran into the same issue this AM. Win. Update's version of F.25 failed, so I fired up Support Assistant and downloaded it there. BIOS updated just fine from there.

Just a side warning. I only recently employed Bitlocker on this laptop and after the BIOS updated, It wouldn't boot because, Windows 11 no longer recognized this laptop! I had to go find my encryption key in my Microsoft account to finally unlock this thing! SO ...... If you have Bitlocker on, be sure to turn it off temporarily so you can update that BIOS with no issues. You can turn Bitlocker back on afterwards.

If your laptop is not encrypted, you should have no problems using Support Assistant.

Good Luck!

Hey,

I forgot to mention something else -

When I tried downloading the new revision,

My laptop claimed that I don't have enough disk space,

Although I have about 260GB of free storage.

I also checked the EFI system partition using The disk management tool (diskmgmt.msc),

And the EFI has 100MB of free space, which I believe should be enough (?)

HP support assistant downloaded the update properly,

but when I tried to run it, The update failed to run because of this.

Any idea what should I do?

Maybe trying to increase the EFI system partition somehow?
