Hello,
I would appreciate advise on the following issue. I believe the problem is the BIOS because if I go into the BIOS menu which takes about 12 minutes, and then hit enter to boot from windows that moves along reasonably fast.

HP Pavilion g7=1173dx Notebook PC
Updated to Windows 10
Takes 15 minutes to boot up. Is this normal or is there bios update that will help.
However, the Window Boot once it gets by the bios is reasonably fast.
Current BIOS = Insyde Version F.52

Thanks,
Dan

My mistake, I should have looked up your laptop first. It is only rated for windows 7 and software is only available at a 3rd party site. Secure boot is not possible, but there is a bios upgrade for you.
https://drivers.eu/Notebooks/HP/Pavilion%20g7-1173dx
See if you can get a refund from that activation group.
There is an operating system called Tiny 10 that might work better than the full blown W10.
Works great. Uses the W10 product key in the BIOS to activate (if you want to activate)
The official and complete tiny10 and tiny11 list – NTDEV
You can actually install W11 on your notebook if you want, because it does not check for processor compatibility.
It is possible to run windows 10 and 11 without activating or buying it.. There are disadvantages as explained here

Go into the bios
If there is a log then review the log for errors and clear the log
Press F9 or whatever key or button is required to set defaults back to factory.
Ensure that secure boot is enabled.
verify the date and time are correct
save settings and reboot.
Bring up msinfo32.exe and verify that secure boot is on
let me know what you find out.

Good morning BeemerBiker,
Your solution was exactly what I needed. Looking through the two updated BIOS choices I selected the F.53 one since it was less picky about the Product number. I was nervous about LW416UA versus LW416UA#ABA. Also, the later BIOS upgrade said it superseded SP61529 but mine after upgrading to F.53 was SP59792. The upgrade to F.53 worked beautifully bringing the boot time into Windows10 to 50 seconds. Also, since I am doing this for a friend, I did not want to take a chance that I may have taken for myself. I am now doing the restore with the delete all personal files option so that I can give it back to him. I put my account on it for a while and updated to Windows 10 using the download from Microsoft to a USB. Since it would not boot from a USB, I got it to boot up in Windows 7 and then navigated to the setup.exe on the USB which then did a fairly clean install of Windows 10 without completely wiping the hard drive (not a full clean install).
So, when the end of Windows 10 approaches, my friend will need to determine if he wants to take a chance on Windows 11 or pay the $30 for another year of security updates for Windows 10. Your Windows 10 Lite is a great idea but I'm surprised at how well this old computer performs with Windows 10.
In addition, the new product key came through from Kymakers. The reason it was slow was that I used a debit card instead of a credit card, so the payment was pending for a while, so I take back the scam comment. I could not find anything on the internet saying that they were not a legitimate company but can't say for sure. It made sense that an upgrade for an old computer to Windows 10 would be cheap since MS will not support an upgrade to Windows 11 for the old PC.
The information you provided was extremely helpful! I had searched and searched on the internet for an answer. The BIOS upgrade fixed the horribly slow boot time. Thank you very much.

I am glad you got it working.
I made a similar purchase for windows 11 pro. Make sure you save the key code as it is probably a retail license and can be moved to a replacement motherboard / system in the future.
