HP Laptop PC 15-dy2000 PC IDS Base Model

I understand that there's a fix for this unexpected rom bug in HP but there's no way to received a response about this in support. My laptop HP 15t-dy200 Product: 2D117AV, Serial: [Personal Information Removed] has this problem since it was bought almost a year ago. It was giving to me in my birthday as soon as I return from deployment in July. The gray rectangle not only appears in the top center of the screen with a blinking cursor on it but in the bottom center above the task bar and some times in the middle center of the screen. BTW, I did a clean reinstall of Windows OS and the problem persists. Wishing someone a can help. Thanks. [Personal Information Removed]

Hi @DEHRUBINSKY,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Try the following:

Reset BIOS to Default Settings

You can try resetting the BIOS settings to their default values.

This can often resolve minor issues.

To do this, restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (often F10, F2, or Del) to enter the BIOS settings.

Look for an option to reset to default settings, save the changes, and exit.

Clear CMOS: If resetting to default settings doesn't work, you can try clearing the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) settings. This will reset the BIOS to its factory defaults. To do this, you will typically need to open up your laptop and locate the CMOS battery. Disconnect the battery for a few seconds, then reconnect it.

If this does not help, the most direct and effective way to resolve BIOS-related issues is to contact HP's internal customer support. They can provide you with specific guidance and may even offer remote assistance to help you diagnose and fix the problem.
