Prepared a blank USB drive (printed with the hp logo 🙂 for a BIOS upgrade to an Omen laptop according to the instructions at
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629?jumpid=hpr_r1002_usen_link3
Restarted. Pressing ESC to reach the management menu and picked F2 for Diagnostics. That brings up the choice of checking RAM, HD, or Language in text mode. There is no graphical app for "PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI" as shown in the instructions and thus no option to upgrade the BIOS. I'm on openSuse 15.1 alone; there is no version of Windows on this machine.
The current BIOS version is F.03, the original. Downloaded F.12 today, to prepare the USB drive on another machine. There are enough security issues that I want to move to the latest version. Any suggestions on why the update doesn't start?
