Hello everyone, I just want to ask a quick question the dedicated RTX 4050 Laptop GPU on my devices has been repeatedly crashing under 3D load. OCCT's 3D test targeting the RTX 4050 crashes within approximately 10 seconds, and after the restart and checking the device manager windows is reporting Code 43 on the NVIDIA GPU. Event Viewer shows repeated nvlddmkm Event ID 14 and 153 TDR errors. The system has also experienced VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL and WIN32K_POWER_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT BSODs. I performed a clean installation of the HP-provided Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers while disconnected from the Internet, and the failure remains reproducible.
Is this a hardware problem?

Try these two things and report back with results:

1. From nvidia app global settings, set power management mode to "Prefer maximum performance)

2. Open device manager an disable these two device:

  • NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
  • NVIDIA High Definition Audio

If issue remains, then let me know Is your laptop under warrenty?

OK I did both things. First thing Im going to note. Setting the preferred graphics processor to High Performance doesn't work since It was one of the things I tried earlier but disabling the NVIDIA High Definition Audio seems to have solved that problem. I wasn't able to disable NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) since I couldn't find it on the device manager.

OK so the OCCT test manage to complete successfully but when I tried running a game it BSOD again.

Preferencing "Maximum Performance" in the NVIDIA app is different from choosing "High Performance" in Windows graphics settings. Devices in Device Manager, especially "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)", have been reported to cause micro-stutters and increased DPC latency and crashes. This is related to GameStream/ShadowPlay and is not needed by most users. That's why i know about this. As for NVIDIA High Definition Audio, it's nothing major. Disabling it disables HDMI audio output from the GPU for monitors/TVs with speakers; but if your speakers/headphones are connected to the motherboard, which is true for most users, disabling does not affect audio and will prevent conflicts that can cause performance issue. That's rare but good to disable if we are not using it.

Sorry I misread that first part I now set it to prefer maximum performance and all those in combination seems to have fixed it. Thank you so much for your help.
