I need advice regarding removal of back cover of my notebook to change hard drive. I can't pry it off as manual suggests. Any tricks to this?

Hello @Scotts7272,
Firstly, this video should help considering that it covers the same laptop series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7vnW2cI6ZE
OK ensure you've taken out all the screws as well as the optical drive. There should be a total of 12 screws, including the one that secures the optical drive. (If you have one)
Then on this laptop, as you can see from the manual on pages 52-53, you need to pry open the bottom cover. This is done by getting a nylon pry tool and slowly prying it in between the top cover and bottom cover (It's in the video). If you don't have a pry tool, you can substitute by grabbing an old gift card or credit card.
Work your way around the laptop until you can finally pop the bottom cover off and you should have a full view of the internals.
Hope this helps,
Eddy
