If I replace the keayboard I currently have (non backlit) with a backlit version from the G3 model or higher will it work properly? I have an HP ZBook 15 G2 non backlit keayboard.
I know there are some minor BIOS options for the backlit keyboards so not sure if installing one will work or not. I do not have admin rights to the machine so can't access BIOS.
I can replace the keayboard however and would like to use a backlit one if possible.
Thanks!

The Specs page says it has optional backlit kbd so there is one that works on it:

Manual gives Kbd part numbers on Page 20:

Thank you for the response, very appreciated. I did notice it said optional backlit keyboard which is why I figured it would work.
My main concern is do I need access to the BIOS to activate it or will it simply work upon installation? I do not have access to the BIOS although maybe the IT department will help change any setting if necessary.

I don't think access to BIOS is needed. You plug the keyboard into motherboard and it should simply work.

These videos should help.

Click on Keyboard.
The only thing you should do in the BIOS is adjust the Timeout.
