I bought this laptop 6 months ago and it worked correctly, apart from random reboots. At the point the Backslash key, between the AltGr and Left keys worked correctly.
I then returned it back to the supplier, PC World UK, as the fault was occuring more often. They returned it to HP who replaced the motherboard and updated the BIOS.
The returned P C seemed to be working correctly and has the latest updates to Win 10 Home applied. Now I have discovered that the Backslash key now works as the Righr Ctrl key, which is very annoying when attempting to access a server since one cannot put the \\ except by using the character map.
I have been back to the reseller and they have offered to either send it back to HP or to refund my payment, so that I can buy another laptop. They will not replace it as the current version is a later version and would cost me another £100.
Potentially, this is an issue with the BIOS, the keyboard mapping or the Microsoft update. How do I get this fixed for free.

I found a solution using the SharpKeys V3.8.0 software to write a key mapping into the registry.
With a UK based laptop and keyboard, I need to set Special: Right Ctrl (E0_1D) to map to Special: ISO extra key (00_56). Rebooted and the key now works correctly.
Not the best solution, but better than waiting for HP or Microsoft to fix their software.
