We don't know what we have. We are in our 90s living on fixed incomes and use our computer to keep in touch with children living in other states. We are homebound due to covid and our laptop hinge is broken and the screen is seperating. We are so disappointed since we've only had this laptop for almost 5 years and hp does not have a long warranty. Is there anything we can do to fix it?

Theoretically yes. Broken parts can be replaced. The issue is identifying the damage then locating the parts then actually installing them. In order to have any kind of idea what kind of expense and difficulty that might involve we need the full model number of the computer and a picture or 2 would be helpful although I sense that might be hard for you to do. I am going to escalate this to HP to see if help is available. If you do not get a response, or are not happy with it, post back in here and we can see what else can be done.

Hi @2Oldtimers,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
