Microsoft Windows 11

I have to keep my laptop plugged in while I use it. Otherwise, if I use it without charging, it gets switched off when the battery is around 50%. I need to get my battery replaced. What is the procedure to do that.

Hi @Karamveer2000

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with a battery that won’t hold a charge properly.

Since your laptop shuts down around 50% battery, it’s likely that the battery has degraded and needs replacement.

Steps to Replace Your HP Laptop Battery

1. Check Battery Health

  • Open Command Prompt and type:powercfg /batteryreport
  • This will generate a battery report showing its current capacity vs. design capacity.

2. Find the Correct Replacement Battery

  • Visit the HP Parts Store and enter your laptop model to find a compatible battery.
  • Alternatively, check the bottom of your laptop or inside the battery compartment for the battery part number.

3. Purchase a Genuine HP Battery

  • Always buy genuine HP batteries to ensure compatibility and safety.
  • You can order from HP’s official store or authorized resellers.

4. Replace the Battery

  • If your laptop has a removable battery, simply swap it out.
  • If it has an internal battery, follow these steps:
    1. Power off the laptop and unplug it.
    2. Remove the back panel using a screwdriver.
    3. Disconnect the old battery and replace it with the new one.
    4. Reassemble the laptop and power it on.

Let me know if you need help finding the right battery! I appreciate your patience while we work through this.
