My HP Support Assistant shows "Calibration Needed" for the battery. I tried the steps given in HP Support Assistant, as well as the "accepted solution" shown in this forum for the same issue. But even after trying the accepted solution, my HP Support Assistant says "Calibration Needed" for the battery. Is this an issue? How do I solve it?

I just went through the same sort of issue on my 3 month old (at the time) Omen-16. After several contacts with HP technicians, they actually sent me a new battery to install. Installation was no problem, but 3 days afterwards, I started getting the same warning about needing calibration, and then the very next day, the laptop reported there was NO battery installed! The charging light was constantly red and if I unplugged the charger, the laptoop instantly shut off, so yeah, there was essentially no battery! In my case I ended up sending the Omen-16 in for service in Texas since, of course, it was still under warranty. I had the laptop returned in 5 days and it ended up that the new battery I had been sent was ALSO BAD!. Since I had it serviced, all has been fine. Bottom line, I would suspect you also have a second bad battery! Happened to me!

My laptop is actually over 3 years old now, and the warranty is non-existent. But I had my battery replaced (not covered by warranty) about just over a year ago. The new battery is valid and original, and the serial number checks pass in the Diagnostics tool before startup. It simply doesn't get calibrated although, I don't know why. I have tried almost everything I could find on the internet. The battery life I'm getting with this replace battery which is at 540/1000 cycles right now, is pretty decent. The only issue is it's out of calibration, as in sometimes it stays in a particular charge percent for quite a while, and a few times I had the battery die and the system shut down on me when it showed around 34% of charge. Probably the Microsoft and HP battery levels are out of sync, but I can't get them to sync.
