Hello all. I'm interested to know any model-specific battery care tips. (HP 14-EP1144TU)

Particularly, I am curious to know about battery bypassing, and whether it is better to use my laptop plugged in or on battery when I am at home and have access to a power outlet.

And if it is the former, I would also like to know if it is okay to keep my laptop plugged in, even though it is at 100%?

Many thanks.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that would not be possible.

Only some higher end HP business class notebooks support that feature.

Hi:

See this link for how to get the most life out of your notebook's battery:

I don't recommend leaving your notebook plugged into A/C power 24/7/365 with the battery in a constant 100% charge state as that may lead to battery swelling which is explained in the above link.

So my laptop isn't capable of battery bypass (running through the charger instead of the battery when plugged in)?

HP Recommended

No, it is not, but it does have a smart charger which stops charging the battery when the charge reaches 100%.

But again, you don't want to leave the battery fully charged 100% the time.

It shouldn't be a problem if you use the notebook portably, but if you never move the notebook, unplug it once in a while and run it off the battery, like once or twice a month.

Thank you! Is there no possible way for me to limit the charge to say, 80%?
