HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0009na
Microsoft Windows 11

Yesterday, my laptop was displaying 47% battery unplugged but then suddenly shut down and displayed 0% when I plugged it in and turned back on. (This has happened some times before)

I did a battery test in diagnostics and it displayed as weak: Primary_ChargeCapacity 43

I opened it up today to check the battery part number (L76965-AC1) and cleaned the interior a little bit.

I did another battery test in disagnostics and it displayed as okay: Primary_ChargeCapacity 81

Why have the tests given such drastically different readings? Is it really just from cleaning?

Both of the tests said the AC Adapter is also okay. Is there any other part in the computer that could be causing problems? Or the battery is still probably weak? What is the best thing to do?

Thanks

Hello, sorry for not replying sooner, I thought hp said I would get an email for any replys for my query.

Image is below.

Just had the same problem again of the computer shutting off at around 40% and then turning back on at 0%, did another diagnostic check on battery again after that and said it was WEAK again (46).

Worth saying that I have also been having a problem with the wifi turning off during sleep that I have been trying to resolve as well but haven't found a fix because a lot of power settings that are supposed to be there are missing. Don't know if this is a related issue at all or worth opening another thread on?

Hello @xanelcava

Your battery is not in good shape. 25% loss of total capacity and numerous charging cycles. Think about installing a new battery in the near future.

Kind regards
